A SEVEN WEEKS ONLINE PROGRAM DEDICATED TO AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF A MASTERPIECE OF PAINTING
January 7, 2016 – February 26, 2016
If you asked me to name a single best strategy of studying painting, my answer would be the same independently of your skill level: in-depth painting studies of masterpieces. The intention behind such a study is to understand how the painting works by doing — and thereby to learn the art of painting from this art’s greatest masters.
In this program, you choose the masterpiece you want to study in-depth, and my goal is to guide you through this process and share all I know about it, so that you learn as much as possible in the course of this program, and can repeat this experience on your own in the future, with other masterpieces.
This is the first, “pilot”, version of the program, and this means that it may be a unique opportunity: I don’t know whether I will ever offer it in this form again. It also means that the program will be co-created and shaped by you (and your fellow participants).
The number of participants in this program is very limited: since everyone will be studying their own masterpiece, I need to make sure that I will be able to help everyone individually. So if you are interested, please pre-register now, without delay, to secure your place in the program. Pre-registration is already closed, but there are a couple of places left in the program. If you are interested, please leave me your name and address and I’ll send you application information:
The next post answers some questions I’ve received about this program.
P.S. By the way, you don’t need to worry whether you will be able to afford this program: it is offered within the framework of gift economy, also known as “generosity-based economy”, so you will never have to pay more than you can afford. As for the time commitment, you need to be ready to reserve at least two hours per week for this work (or about 20 minutes a day).
