Sonnets in colour: 1 - 9

The sonnet sequence begins with a "procreation" sub-sequence, where the speaker marshals an army of various arguments, metaphors, rhetorical and stylistic structures to convince his young addressee, in a fatherly manner, to marry and produce a son. The core ideas for me in this first act of the sonnets' dramatic plot was the fragility of human existence, and the need to give yourself away in order to have any chance to "remain".
